Wendy Bends the Rules

As Wendy & Gordon’s honeymoons period looks like ending in messy divorce, revelations about Labour’s corruption are turning from a trickle to a torrent. Looks like the Herald broke it because the Scotsman changed its front page from earlier editions to run with it. Well done the Herald. It's amazing what you find when you remove your head from up Labours arse isn't it!

As Angus Robertson, the SNP leader at Westminster, said Scottish Labour had raised around £167,000 for elections in the past four years but had spent nigh on £1m. Therefore, the Moray MP argued, central Labour funds had been spent, which must have included some of Mr Abrahams's gifted money.

"I firmly believe David Abrahams's (no relation honest! - Ed) laundered money helped the Scottish Labour Party's Scottish election campaign in 2007," said Mr Robertson.

Earlier, during Scottish Questions in the Commons, Mr Robertson asked Des Browne, the Scottish Secretary, whether any of the "£326,955 of illegal donations" by Mr Abrahams had funded Labour's Scottish parliamentary campaigns in Scotland.

Mr Browne replied: "I can give you a categorical assurance, in terms of my state of knowledge, that none of those donations to the Labour Party, that have been figuring in the media over the last couple of days, went to fund any part of the Scottish elections, any part of the Scottish election campaign, to my knowledge."

Now you or I may be slightly confused by the conflict between the gap between Des Browne’s categorical assurance and his two get-outs “in terms of my state of knowledge” and “to my knowledge”.

Don’t want to get too Rumsfeldian here but how can you be categorically sure about something you’re not so sure about?

The other thing that interest me that I don’t see anyone else raising is the question, how did Bendy Wendy spend £17,000 on an election campaign in which she was unopposed? What the hell did she spend the money on?

As a poster on the Herald put it about Paul Green and his mucho dosh: "Would you call that a 'very hungry pack-a-till-er?" Ouch.
