Old Bill on the March

miners-strive-orgreave.jpgI remember that the first legislative act by Thatcher was to raise the basic pay of the police way above an ordinary wage. This was the first step in using and changing the police in what was effectivey class war that she waged for her term in office. I also remember police on the picket line at Bilston Glen durng the Miners Strike waving their extra time pay packets at striking miners.

So you'll excuse me if I dont stand shoulder to shoulder with them as they march through London today ("Police to march over pay "betrayal")

I wonder who's counting the protest for them? In time honoured tradition whoever it is should estimate it at about a quarter of the actual turnout.

My Top Five Reasons to Hate the Fuzz:

1) Battle of the Beanfield - more here - and video here.

2) Trafalgar Square

3) Battle of Orgreave.

4) Jean Charles de Menzes

5) Harry Stanley

Class war held a counter-demo, rather than supporting the police's action. Now at the next lefty demo are the police going to think 1) there a bunch of scum who hate us or 2) there decent people who supported us?

If we don't at least try and brake the police from the state we may as well all just pack-up our placards and go home now.

Do you mean break?

How would that happen?

The police are an arm of the state.

Yes, I mean break, Sorry my spelling crap.

Yes, the police are an arm of the state, but that arm (like the human arm) is made up of single cells. Surely if we convince the W/C police that there intrests lay not with the ruleing class but with other workers then...

However if we choose just to see police men and women as an enemy, then we in effect make a rod for our own backs (not that the left doesn't just love to do this as it is).

Which would you rather face over a baricade? the guy who you discussed wage relations with and sold a copy of what ever paper to, or one you took the piss out of?
